Welcome to the Talking Walls Blog: Old Places + New Books

I have the distinctive trait of being passionately inspired by old stuff. Some people, like passengers in my car, might call it a fault as I swerve into a ditch for a glimpse of an old house peeking through the woods. Whether vice or virtue, my fascination with all things old—buildings, trees, books, furniture, people—is innate and beyond curing. If you’ve read this far, you’re just as guilty.

According to top bloggers and the S.E.O. gurus, the most effective blogs solve readers’ problems. So how can this blog keep you on the road and out of the ditch in front of every old house? The Talking Walls Blog aims to satisfy your want for inspiration and the need to explore old places and new books—especially if you’re stuck behind a desk in a cubicle or exhausted by the idea of yet another YA fantasy.

More importantly, I hope the Talking Walls Blog inspires other like-minded readers and explorers to share their favorite place-worthy books, experiences, and pictures. Let’s build a team that champions historic and cultural preservation as a means of economic, community, and personal growth. In the meantime, check out Earth + Ether Press’s inaugural release, The Finding, a Southern historical mystery set in Louisiana’s Acadiana region, once described as “the only foreign country in the United States.”

If you love old places and books as much as me, sign up to receive periodic updates and tidbits on historic and cultural preservation and to find out about our new releases. I can’t wait to hear your feedback!

And now, for those distracted by old houses peeking through the woods…

The Eagle Hotel (circa 1826) on the banks of Bayou Courtableau in Washington, Louisiana. Earth + Ether Press’s first release, The Finding, is set along the Bayou Courtableau, where a sunken treasure spawns a mysterious legal battle.

Hallie ♥ historic houses and all things old. Earth + Ether Press is a passion project merging her love for old places and the books (and laws!) that will save them. She believes all problems can be solved with a long run and a cold beer (not necessarily in that order).
